KONFERENCIJA „Nordic-Baltic Cooperation for Textile Circularity“: Vilnius, 2020.01.28-29

The organizers

PROJECT: Towards a Nordic-Baltic circular textile system (2018.11-2020.09), founded by the Nordic Council of Ministers

EVENT: „Nordic-Baltic Cooperation for Textile Circularity“ (2020.01.28-29, Museum of Applied Arts and Design, Vilnius, Lithuania), organised by Resources for Sustainable Development/ TEXTALE, Nordic Council of Ministers, SEI Tallinn and other project partners.

Participants: up to 120 stakeholders from Nordic and Baltic countries from textile collection, reuse and recycling organisations, textile producers, brands and retailers, public authorities and policy makers, industry associations, academia and NGO.

Panel Discussion

The aim of the event was to increase understanding of used textile flows in the Baltics, identify specific challenges and opportunities for textile circularity in the Baltic region, present innovative industry developments within textile circularity from Nordic-Baltic region, forge partnerships between collectors, sorting, recycling/upcycling companies and other stakeholders across the Baltic-Nordic region, provide ideas and insights for policy intervention strategies and actions.

The program covered presentations, discussions, pitch & matchmaking sessions on topics:

  • Key findings of mapping on textile flows in the Baltic states. Main challenges and opportunities in the Baltics.
  • Used Textiles Circularity: sector development (innovations, systemic solutions, new business models, collaboration platforms).
  • Call for action. Baltic-Nordic stakeholders matchmaking.
  • Policy matters for textile circularity. Policy recommendations for the used textile sector. Challenges and opportunities in the Baltics.

Wrapping up, we’re sure, that the results of this project will be really useful for future projects and collaborations! All together we created a movement of stakeholders for circular Nordic-Baltic used textiles economy! We want to hope that our group of stakeholders, which manages quite different weapons, can find ways for real collaboration, working together!
